Story Behind The Song
I usually don't have stories behind songs but this has a great story that can only be described as supernatural...I want to keep this memory vivid. Memories have a way of dissipating if they aren't refreshed. So it's winter, back in the early 90's, I'm in an apt and commuting to work so I cannot play my beautiful drum kit. My great grandparents had both passed on at this point, and I secured the key to their empty house and was granted a few hours to cart my kit over, set-up, play, break down, and hump it back to my grandmothers housed where I stored it. It was of course in the dead of winter, February, and when I was hauling the drums in I noticed two hummingbirds on the front porch, just hanging in the air, doing what hummingbirds do. I cannot ever remember seeing hummingbirds in the dead of winter. But I did that night. Hummingbirds weigh 21 grams, your heart weighs 21 grams, they say your body loses 21 grams when your die...that would mean your soul weighs 21 grams. End of story.
Song Description
I love this track. from the opening snare rolls to the big strings and arp harps, back to the heavily muffled tom rolls, this is a stone blockbuster.
