Lyrics
Jonathan's wife left in the night for a traveling man whos preaching up a fire to forests of men, with a poisonous snake in his hands. All across the apalachians they follow his call, and Mary Mary so lost among it all. She'll trade a hollow leg for a taste of the pall. Oh Jonathan. A weak Maryanne with the laying of hands, and drinking of the poison she shakes. Annointed by the spirit, her stomach it turns, and her mind it is gone with the snake. The holy ghost people erupt at the site. As jonathan calls out again for his wife. The mountains the cower, and tremble in fright, as Maryanne wipes her lips. Wipes her lips. "Oh Mary, Mary, the garden won't grow! The soil won't sew one seed until you come home! I won't touch a thing! The robin wont sing until I find you!" Late in the night, Mary turns white. the owls seem to call out her name. And way beyond the trees, she swears that she sees her husband in the flickering rain. But somewhere in the distance his heart starts to race, and Jonathan barely can remember Mary's face. He wonders if there's even still a place for Maryanne in his heart. In his --. "Oh. Mary, Mary, the garden won't grow! The soil wont sew one seed until you come home! I wont touch a thing! The robin wont sing until I find you!!"
