It's Not Real

Story Behind The Song

It's Not Real" is the internal struggle to decide what to believe in and what to hold on to while witnessing a world that is filled with fear and tragedy. It's also trying to reconcile the idea that some of us are "ok" while others aren't. Sometimes when you have a bad or uncomfortable dream, do you ever "wake up" or gain a certain level of consciousness within the dream and say to yourself, "this isn't real"...? And you take comfort in that possibility. So one of the biggest question we ask ourselves as people is what's next? What happens when we're gone? Or dead? And does that have anything to do with what's happening now? And if it does, how can we reconcile the tragic nature of our world with this idea that everything will someday be "heaven?" I think perhaps the best way to answer that question or react to that question without totally losing it is the same way you might in one of those dreams... it's not real. It's Not Real is a chilling and introspective song. But it's somehow soothing...

Lyrics

Centuries carved out of stone- gave our first warning
And when it begins we'll hide away and pray for morning
Deep in dreams, I hear the screams, but I block it out
But something creeping deep within keeps casting doubts

It's not real, it's not real, it's not real
This is not real, it's just not real,
It's not real

The pounding in my head is more than I had bargained
As all the things try to escape that keep me haunted
I can't believe, my eyes deceive, what can I do?
But lose control and guard my soul and think of you

It's not real

I wish I had the words to say to give you comfort
But all the while these evil things just make me wonder...
about the final truth, here in the end, behind the door
Maybe another time, another place, or do we come back wanting more?
