Story Behind The Song
This song is about the death of spouse. It attempts to capture the initial heartache, then the search to make sense of it by hoping that there is something more to life than death, that there is a master plan, a purpose and ultimately there is a heaven. It's especially difficult to explain death to children and most people even atheist mention Heaven to kids to soften the perceived finality of death. This song also attempts to show some of the changes that occur as life continues after a tragic event like this. I thought about military families, cancer victims and sudden accidents, etc.

Lyrics
Broken
That's what happened to us
Heartbreaking for us
Broken
Like a vase of flowers dropped
And shattered
All our plans, hopes and dreams
Just remnants now like
Your memory
When our children have grown
And living their lives
And I meet someone new
To stand by my side
There will always be
A spark in me
Igniting the memories
Of the part of me that's you
Broken
Pieces of our lives
Falling down like leaves
Broken
Dreams so real
I could almost touch you
All our plans, hopes and dreams
Just remnants now like
Your memory
When our children have grown
And living their lives
And I meet someone new
To stand by my side
There will always be
A spark in me
Igniting the memories
Of the part of me that's you
You're in heaven now
I'll see you again someday
You're in heaven now
In my heart you'll stay
You're in heaven now
I'll see you again someday
You're in heaven now
In my heart you'll stay
When our children have grown
And living their lives
And I meet someone new
To stand by my side
There will always be
A spark in me
Igniting the memories
Of the part of me that's you
