Song Description
Recorded at studio Z for a 'historical society' songwriting contest where the winner (not us) was openly friends with the person who who judged the contest. It was obvious that this was predetermined. We burned 50 copies of our song and handed it out to the various people who attended (mostly masons). That day, we walked away feeling like Fulton :)

Lyrics
marriage of the water linking town to town
a living breathing handshake flowing all around
we walk on the towpath plaques display historic truths
blood sweat and tears from your fathers and sons still running for you
welcome to welcome to the Erie Canal
turn down your engines relax and sail
engineering marvel of the 19th century from the Hudson River to lake Erie
800 miles born in 1825 eighth wonder of the world keeping the dream alive
if Robert Fulton could quote i'm sure he would say 'i'm proud it still runs today'
welcome to welcome to the Erie Canal
turn down your engines relax and sail
engineering marvel of the 19th century from the Hudson River to lake Erie
