Story Behind The Song

The Lover and the Loved

© Lindow Sage 2012 (Nicole Hogan)

I stumble down the station steps
I'm late again
When I see you standing, searching
For your train.
My heart stops, my feet as
I call your name
How do you captivate me still to this day?

For a moment, time is frozen
We're on a stage.
I am the lover and you are the loved
They are the roles we play
I can see, love is free
It does not want or need
Because I am the lover and you are the loved to me.

Everything you are I know I juxtapose
Like the midnight sun and winter
Fire and snow
Now it's spring and shining
On all I know
In this light I realise to love is to let go

For a moment, time is frozen
We're on a stage.
I am the lover and you are the loved
They are the roles we play
I can see, love is free
It does not want or need
Because I am the lover and you are the loved to me.

There was a time when life played out of tune
Changing key expecting I would too
And every note I wrote for you, came out wrong
I wish that I could change the lyrics to that song.

For a moment, time is frozen
We're on a stage.
I am the lover and you are the loved
They are the roles we play
I can see, love is free
It does not want or need
Because I am the lover and you are the loved to me
I am the lover and you are the loved to me
So I wave to you and that's my cue to leave.
