Story Behind The Song
My parents met with in Jr. High, they married young and had my sister and I. They tried different things as far as carreers go and had hard times. One thing my mom told me they always said, was if it got so bad, they could just sell everything and go sell hot dogs on the beach. Unfortunately, my mom had stage IV cancer at the age of 54 and passed away in May 2012. I put together this song to immortalize her life, her love and her inspiration to me. I was lucky enough to play her the song before she passed. Hopefully her memory and her life will forever live on through this simple melody.

Lyrics
They met back in school
Since then they've been breaking the rules
Defying the odds on all of love's tests
They married young, had two kids
Started and ended a business
Struggled as all young families do
Through it all never gave up
Told themselves when the going got tough
They can sell everything they have
Put the rest in a bag
Head on south to the coast
Set up camp on the beach
Sell hot dogs in the savannah heat
And enjoy the sand in our toes
Now does that sound so bad?
Seasons changed; years went by
Tumbled from time to time
With their kids by their side
Together they travelled life's road
Not always knowing where it'll go
A true love story as one ever told
Always ready for the fight
Cause they knew in the back of their mind
CHORUS
Many times mom I came to you
When my dreams weren't coming true
You'd tell me to stay focused and strong
You said we share the same gene
Always trying new ways to succeed
Even as we get knocked off our feet
Then you'd take my hand
Remind me there's a backup plan
We can sell everything we have
Put the rest in a bag
Head on south to the coast
Set up camp on the beach
Sell hot dogs in the savannah heat
And enjoy the sand in our toes
Now does that sound so bad?
