Story Behind The Song
I only found out about Johnny Cash dying the day after and it really affected me. I was sitting on the beach in Millport, Scotland thinking of how much Johnny Cash's music shaped my life. There is a line in the song "I knew a boy named sue Daddy played it all the time", I felt like I knew the boy in the song I heard it so much. I wrote the song in a very short time and then put it to one side. I was working in the studio with Ian and Stewart and said to the guys I've been messing about with this tune what do you think? And the song went from strength to strength.

Lyrics
Johnny Kenny Bogan JAN 05
Chorus:
Johnny died yesterday, but the world kept on turning
Don?t even think that I flinched when I heard
In a poetic way the ring of fire will keep burning
And we will still hang on his every word
VI
With a tell tale voice he brought a new light
With songs that he seemed to live in
With a well defined choice he wrote his words for us
And with him we?re all somewhat akin
Chorus:
VII
I knew a boy named sue daddy played it all the time
Just one line from it takes me back
To the cowboy with the blues don?t stop walking the line
So farewell to the big man in black
Chorus:
