Story Behind The Song
This is an interpretation of the part of the Bible that tells when Abraham brought Isaac on the mountain to sacrifice him to God, God said to sacrifice a lamb instead. By stopping child sacrifice Abraham went against the prevailing culture which expected child sacrifice as a religious rite. This was a courageous act and elevated mankind to a new level of humanity.
Song Description
Song of joy and pride in the heritage of Abraham who ended the practice of child sacrifice which was the accepted religious practice at the time. This is the heritage that Judaism contributed to the world.

Lyrics
OH JOY
As the sun sets upon Jerusalem
Upon the ancient Temple we have built
To all the children born to see the light of God
We say to you, a blessing, you are saved
Our father, Abraham, went up on the mountain
And on that rock proclaimed to all the world
You shall not sacrifice your children in the name of God
God has commanded and Abraham obeyed
Oh joy, oh joy, the children are all saved
God commanded and Abraham obeyed
(repeat)
And from that time the children are secure with us
We will protect you, love you, keep you free
And so we bring you the blessings of our heritage
Come follow us to the love of Adonai*
Oh joy, oh joy, the children are all saved
God commanded and Abraham obeyed
(repeat 4x)
*Adonai means God in Hebrew
