Story Behind The Song
It was summer of 1975 I was living in LA in Laurel Canyon.
I remember seeing Joni Mitchell at this cool hippie log cabin store at the end of muholland drive. I went up to her and indroduced my self as a songwriter. She was so cool....she said "it gives ya hope doesn't it(writing songs) I said "Ya is does". what kind of song do you think the world needs now I asked her. She said. "well we could use a good bring us together type christmas song i guess". We talked a little more and she was off in her datsun and me in my volvo bug.
Later that evening I smoked some weed and I remembered what she said. I picked up my guitar and "Christmas in the wind was born". My family plays it every christmas as part of our traditional dinner. I've played it out many times with raving reactions. Hope you like it.
Peace out,,,John

Lyrics
Christmas in the Wind
Spirit Guide me to my home
In the snow and the colored lights,
I feel so good for the day to come,
Walking with a friend in the magic of the night--
This is a time for loving, there's Christmas in the wind,
This is a time for living, and to be born again
A new age grows closer every year,
the wounds of time are healing,
It's always been my favorite fantasy
to celebrate the reasons why we're living
This is a time for loving, there's Christmas in the wind,
This is a time for living, and to be born again
This is for a time for loving,
there's Christmas in the wind
there's Christmas in the wind
there's Christmas in the wind
there's Christmas in the wind
