On The Screen
I know this movie that we're living in
Ain't likely to go winning no awards
Ya and I think it's safe to say that I ain't gonna get no Grammy for the score
And I'll admit some scenes in it could fit together better than they have
Sometimes the plot gets so confused it's hard to yell the good guys from the bad.
Now if Bob Altman were directing he'd have pick two bigger names to play our roles
And if Speilberg were producing chances are we'd not be so far in the hole
But all in all I think I'd rather go on shooting just the way we are.
Hell it may bomb down at the Bijou, I don't care, I'm workin with my favourite star.
And I'm proud you chose to be my leading lady
It's been a thrill to work in each and evry scene
And when this pictures one and someone else has won the Oscar
I'll still be proud to be beside you
On the screen
I know this story's nothin special, it's been done at least a hundred times
You play the tenderhearted woman I'm the fighter who keeps comin back for more
And ya, the critics will complain that what we shot ain't got a lot to do with art
But me, I'm more than satisfied I think we both were perfect for the part. Ya
An I'm proud etc.
