Story Behind The Song
Joanne Griffith suggested the theme to author Delphine Bailly, who wrote the lyrics. Jean-François Garneau composed the music, keeping it cheerful to convey the energy of chidhood and a sense od hope, but adding a chorus that evoques the sadness of war.
Song Description
The song is a poetic evocation of African children who are forced to be soldiers in wars they don't understand. It expresses the hope that children can be left out of adult fights and conflicts resolved peacefully.
