Texas Moon

Story Behind The Song

My very good friend moved away from Salt Lake City suddenly. Her husband got a job in Texas and moved the family. She was sad to leave, as he didn't consult her first. To watch the realization of her being up-rooted and the reality of loosing a friend inspired the song.

Song Description

The subject of the song was a loved member of the community. The co-writer and I were very close to this woman, she was a singer, and was also a sweet person. The experience of watching her go brought on great sadness to him and I, so we wrote the song to try to feel better!

Lyrics

The winter rain reminds me
of how I feel today;
A little like a rainbow
about to fade away;
The snow upon our mountains
is shinig like a flame;
and covers where the earth is bare
like any heart that's known your name.

So how do I begin,
To live my life again?
When living was so centered around you?
It's the memory of your smile
That keeps my heart in bloom,
and it shines tonight above your
Texas moon.

The winter wind reveals to me
a chill I just can't shake;
I hope that time has given us
a bond that will not break;
Though you're far away from me
the time is coming soon;
Our hearts will be together
underneath our Texas moon.
