Story Behind The Song
Sometimes I can see my Mother and Father and even glimpses of my grandparents faces in my children's faces. This is a song about how our characteristics (what makes us who we are), i.e our soul, gets made up from our ancestors and relatives. That is who we are.
Song Description
I was sitting with my 8 year old daughter and I saw parts of my Mothers face in her face. It was weird. And I have definitely noticed my children's personalities being similar to mine and my wife's and even the grandparents. The song explains that we get our souls from our former family members and that mixed with our experiences makes us who we are.

Lyrics
Verse 1
Furrowed skin becoming new once more, I see a new life, a revolving door.
From head to toe, from leaf to stem, I can see them all in faces of them...
Verse 2
He's a piece of Mom and a piece of me, put together differently. We'll take the good, ignore the bad, a little better than what we had...
Chorus
While we're here and when we go... All we own is our souls.
Verse 3
Be your own man, don't let your family down, stand up tall and stand up proud.
It's all right there, right in your face. I can see me in you my love...
Chorus
While we're here and when we go... All we own is our souls.
Bridge
Will you understand me before its too late.
Will I understand me before its too late.
Chorus
While we're here and when we go... All we own is our souls.
