The tune is very dramatic and the performance is excellent. Lovely use of light and shade/tension and release. Tasteful use of strings which doesn't detract from the piano. The piece has a Spanish feel-not sure if that's intentional, but it certainly is effective.
This certainly has a solid cinematic appeal, and is just a good listen all-around.
There are some fantastically dissonant note/chord choices in here that take us from flowing melody to somehow feeling like an old upright player piano that is about to go off the rails...and then back! It is almost more a feel than a sound. The slightly offset left/right hand rhythms in those parts really heighten the effect. Well done!
