Story Behind The Song
I usually like to write songs from the first person point of view. So I put myself in the position of being one who had all but given up hope of finding true love.
The "Last Chance Bar" seems to symbolize the finality of finding that relationship. But

Everything
Words and Music By James Wood
They met one night at the Last Chance Bar
Their lives both so incomplete
But they danced until the lights went out
And before he turned to leave
bridge:
He said - "I drove all night and found you in this sleepy little town
I'd stand up for your honor, but I?m afraid to be let down
And Lord knows I've come too far to turn back now"...
chorus:
I'll give you everything. Whatever it takes
I've never been in love before, Believe me when I say
Is this heaven?
I know it's how it's meant to be
When I look into your eyes it's forever you and me
In everything
Past the rose garden to her door
And she invited him inside
He said, "Maybe we should take it slow"
"I've been hurt too many times"
bridge:
She said - "I want to hold you close, feel your heart beat with mine"
"I don't care about tomorrow, stay with me tonight"
"You're the one that I've been searching for all my life"
chorus:
I'll give you everything. Whatever it takes
I've never been in love before. Believe me when I say
Is this heaven?
I know it's how it's meant to be
When I look into your eyes it's forever you and me
In everything
She's been alone for so long now
Loneliness fades away
He needs more than a one night stand
True love is what it takes.
