Lyrics

Driving down Mercy Road, down Mercy Road to your door.
Gonna love you like never before, when you open the door.

Like a bird with a broken wing, I can't fly but I can sing.
You're my shelter. You're my song and the reason I go on.

Driving down Mercy Road. Simple and true.
At the end of the road I find you reaching out like you always do.

Like a bird with a broken wing, I can't fly but I can sing.
You're my shelter. You're my song and the reason I go on.

I know I'm a hard man to love.
I know, at times, it's been rough.
But I'm trying. I'm trying.

Driving down Mercy Road, down Mercy Road to your door.
Gonna love you like never before, when you open the door

This song totally engaged me from the first moment to the last. Driving down Mercy Road is a great double play on words. It could be the name of the road, the name of the woman he loves, or what he hopes to find at the end of his journey in the heart of the woman he loves. Beautifully written and performed, this song tells a believable story with a flawed character hero (the broken wing...I can sing/ word picture is original, creative and effective). The lyrics are perfectly crafted; I cannot think of a single word I would change. The writer knows how to economize on his words. Say something great with a few choice words that are easy to understand and communicate the heart of the story. The bridge is also expertly written. I love the mandolin and guitar. This song is just 10 stars all around, and if you were playing at a local festival, I'd definitely come to hear you perform.

I think the acoustic instruments combined with the slide add a timeless quality to the song. I also like the vocal pitch and the lyrical content. Nice finish

Lovely guitar intro. Great vocal presence. Strong lyrics. I like the way the instrumentation builds. Catchy chord progression and melody. Nice change of structure at 2.15. Very commercial sounding. Excellent sound quality and musicianship.

Just well done across the board.I can see this song playing in a scene where a guy is driving through the sunset with his dog to pull up to yhe4 love of his life.Like in the movie "hope floats"

i like everything about it heartfelt

Absolutely love this. Great arrangement and song structure, mix was spot on instrumentation was top notch and well spaced in the mix. The vocal and phrasing was a pleasure to listen to as your natural tone and texture expressed itself with out any add on's to enhance it as is far too often
done these days. For the genre you nailed this, emotive lyrics perhaps with a hint of personal history. Will definitely listen again.

Beautiful song. Great voice, solid lyrics, good arrangement. A pleasure to listen to. What more can I say? A fine effort!

Great voice and nice lyrics..... great job!...........
