Story Behind The Song
i wrote this song the very first time i came to tour in america in 1998, from adelaide australia.
i was looking out of my hotel window onto the streets below in new york city.
i saw the reflection of the open sky on the buildings across from me and i felt so small.
i was with my band, but i felt so alone because i realised how massive this world really is and my dreams of posative change where really thrown into perspective.
Song Description
being seperated from the things you know makes you reflective and able to see the things that are around you in a very clear way.
but still there is the yearning to find that one person who will always be there no matter what.

Lyrics
v1
Reflections on buildings invite me in
Like water in daydreams, like chameleons
And I?m staring out, hoping, that you can see me
chorus
And I?m alone in the company of strangers
And I?m drifting from one room to the next looking for you
v2
And the senseless excesses that bring us closer apart
The distance seems greater than the total sum of the past
And I some how feel responsible for all this heart ache and pain
How can I go on knowing that I can do something to make it all go
away
v3
And our lifetimes seem endless
When we feel we are a part of every little decision
Are we the cause, the consequence, the art?
