Story Behind The Song
This is a song about a boy who died on Military road, an actual road near where I live. A dump truck landed on the boy in a car and he was crushed to death. I saw a woman bringing flowers to the corner where the boy actually died and was so moved that I wrote this song about it
Song Description
This is a story song about loss. Specifically, about a mother who lost her son. Other than the actual incident, the facts in this song are imagined.

Lyrics
She walks down Military road
with a fist full of flowers she can barely hold
She wants to make the corner look fine
and show the world what she left behind
People say, "Now aint that sweet
pretty flowers on this beat up street
but they don't know what it all means
every petal and stem is more than it seems
Military road, one flower at a time
one day we'll all be fine maybe when we get old
Military road, it gets me every time
I see the sun shine on the flowers
on Military road
Three doors down in the upstairs hall
there's a room that hasn't changed at all
It's been two years now, going on ten
She's turned the handle but never walked in
Military road, one flower at a time
one day we'll all be fine
maybe when we get old
Military road, every day's the same
since her little boy became just those
flowers on Military road
