Story Behind The Song

This is a breakup song, but it can be applied to more than just romantic relationships. It is about a person walking away from a toxic relationship and realizing that sometimes a person is stronger alone than with a toxic partner, whether it be a friendship, working relationship, family member or romantic relationship.

Song Description

Song begins with a gentle keyboard intro until :27 when the first verse begins with female vocals and keyboard and just one hit a measure from a bass drum sample to add ambiance and power to the lyrics without overpowering them. The chorus begins at :56 ushered in with "real" crash and ride cymbals as well as bass guitar joining the keyboard and bass drum. At 1:30 a cello using a delay pedal joins in pizzicato to add a percussive effect to the chorus. The chorus repeats, backed up by legato cello, joining the other instruments to support the vocals. The tail end of the second chorus includes a slight change in lyrics at 3:00 to set it apart from the first chorus and act as a verse. At 3:17 the chorus repeats with more intense vocals and a wider note range. At 3:31 added pizzicato without the delay pedal supports the lyrics and electric guitar with added reverb enters as ambient support of the lyrics while legato cello provides harmony with the melody of the song. At 4:27 - 4:40 the song ends with just vocals and ambient electric guitar ringing out.
