Story Behind The Song
I read a newspaper article about a guy out on a boat with some friends on a cloudless day. According to the story, he was drunk, climbed onto the bow of the boat, and said something like: "If there is a God, let him strike me down with lightning". And, according to the story, he was immediately hit by lightning and killed. I swear this was the story in the newspaper! Anyway, I just took that imagery and used it to describe the narrator unexpectly meeting a really great woman.

Lyrics
YOU CAME FROM OUT OF NOWHERE
A UNIQUE, SWEET SURPRISE
LIKE DECEMBER SNOW IN TEXAS
A FLASH OF BEAUTY ACROSS MY EYES
LIKE A GAMBLER ROLLIN' SEVENS
A HOLE-IN-ONE ON THE FIRST TRY
SO WONDERFUL SO UNEXPECTED
YOU'RE LIGHTNIN' FROM A CLEAR BLUE SKY
DON'T KNOW HOW I MADE IT THIS FAR
I WAS MOSTLY STUMBLIN' INTO WALLS
NOW YOU'RE HERE SPARKLIN' AND ELECTRIC
RIGHT BEFORE THE THUNDER FALLS
CHORUS
YOU CAME UP ON ME LIKE A THIEF THAT NIGHT
FIRST TIME I SAW YOU I WAS BLINDED BY YOUR LIGHT
I THANK THE HEAVENS FOR THE DAY WE MET
WHEN YOU CAME SHOOTIN' ACROSS MY SKY TO STEAL MY BREATH
CHORUS
