Story Behind The Song
I started my blog, Prayers and Promises, back in 2010 after my counselor at the time told me to have a safe place to share my story. She said I would 'meet' other people who were going through the same thing.
Sara was one of the people's blog I followed. She had schizophrenia. Her blog posts were written from all of her 'personas'. It was real. Each 'person' sharing a different side of Sara. It was intriguing. I followed her and read her posts for about 3 months.
The last post was from her husband. He told all of Sara's followers that she had committed suicide and would no longer be writing. He took her blog down after about a month.
I cried. I didn't even know her, but it broke my heart. She was not afraid to talk about pain. She helped me learn to talk about mine.
So, in honor of Sara, I wrote her this song...

[verse]
After years of fighting and trying to cope
She gave into the dark, gave up on Hope
They said Sara had split personalities
accusing voices brought fatality
[chorus]
Sara does not live here anymore
If tears could build a stairway,
and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven
and bring Sara home again.
[verse]
"Buckle up, fasten your seat belts," Sara would say
"It's going to be a wild bumpy ride"
We met her altered personalities
Not knowing it was the finality
[chorus]
Sara does not live here anymore
If tears could build a stairway,
and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven
and bring Sara home again.
[bridge]
Living was hard, Sara fought for
peace and rest with her last breath
We did not know she would end her life
A death by suicide
[chorus]
Sara does not live here anymore
If tears could build a stairway,
and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven
and bring Sara home again.
[chorus]
Sara does not live here anymore
If tears could build a stairway,
and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven
and bring Sara home again.
