Song Description
This piece was originally composed solely for Organ. We transcribed and arranged excerpts of this piece for Chamber instruments. Our selection comes from Suite 4, of an 18th Century method book titled "New Book of Noels for Organ and Harpsichord" (translated from French) by Michel Corrette (1707-1795). From the text of the "Nouveau Livre de Noels," the excerpts we transcribed chronicle the angelic visit to rural shepherds near Bethlehem, and their trek to see this "new born king." This production is an adaptation of Corrette's work, utilizing chamber instruments to "mimic" the various stops and timbres of the 18th century cathedral organ and its diversity of sounds.
