Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Last thing I remember I was thinking about you.
Good times together, the things we used to do.
I rose out of my body, saw someone dressed in white.
I didn't want to go and so I held on tight.
The angel said "let go, and follow the light".
[Verse 2]
I saw many visions of my Earthly life,
My family friends and neighbors, my dear sweet loving wife.
I saw that stupid tractor and I fired that sucker up
The angel climbed aboard and I said "where'd you like to go?"
He replied "you know, just rider her on home!"
[Chorus]
Because it's goodbye world, hello heaven
Breakfast at 8:00, dinner's at 7:00.
Don't be late for cocktails at 5:00!
The food is hot and the beer is cold
You don't have to worry about getting' old
You ain't had this much fun since you were alive!
[Bridge]
(Man) I don't want to go!
(Angels) It's time for you to leave.
(Man) What about my family?
(Angels) We know that they'll grieve.
(Man) I don't think I'm ready!
(Angels) There are few who ever do.
(Man) If it's time I guess I'll go.
(Angels) The Lord is waiting for you, and we'll watch over your family just like you.
[Verse 2]
So when you're telling stories about good times and bad
The cabin in the mountains and all the fun we had.
Pop yourself a cold one and look up to the sky
It's OK if there's a little teardrop in your eye.
Raise a toast and laugh until you cry.
[Chorus]
Because it's goodbye world, hello heaven
Breakfast at 8:00, dinner's at 7:00.
Don't be late for cocktails at 5:00!
The food is hot and the beer is cold
You don't have to worry about getting' old
I ain't had this much fun since I was alive!
(Man) You take it easy now, I'm doin' fine!
