Story Behind The Song

Concept behind "I AM HE" Much like my last record "Dichotomy", the lyrical concepts for these new songs are based from my observations of the topic of dysfunction as a whole. Albeit I don't claim to be an expert in this field but these songs are a musical manifestation of what I've seen in others as well as recognized in myself over the last six years. I AM HE is basically an argument between the ego and the self in which both are personified throughout as separate characters in the song. You may hear the lower guttural screaming is coming from the character of the EGO as he introduces himself in the first verse of the song and makes his presence fully known in the chorus. "I AM HE.......I AM EGO" Furthermore, the "EGO" goes on to explain that he is an entity that is always reoccurring. Ekchardt Tolley wrote that "You cannot fight against the ego, much like you can't fight against darkness". This has all been a constant study of mine over this six year period on understanding myself as an individual and learning that the only thing that can "win" over dysfunction of any kind is awareness. The character of "awareness" is depicted in the first line "Ive seen your face before" and is featured throughout in a battle with the "EGO"..........In other words.......Yes I'm having an argument with myself on tape ha ha. In the most literal sense. My "EGO" is engaged in a battle with the "SELF". Though the "EGO" can be used to accomplish incredible feats in performance, science, sports, entertainment, art etc, it can also be equally negative and infinitely more destructive if unbalanced. This song is my take on what I've seen when pride takes precedence over compassion.
