Suffice it to say, this is my own interpretation of the testerone filled recruits who were adventurers and mountain men, ready to go west in the unknown remote wilderness some with reckless abandon.

Lyrics

THE WAY OF MEN
Copyright 1999 David Walburn

Captains load your boat with plenty of supplies
Everything you can think of that will help the men survive
But save most of the room for whisky by the drum
Make sure we don't run out 'til we're many miles from home

CHORUS:
And it's the Way of Men a need for adventure
And plenty of open spaces we can roam
Well its the Way of Men a need for adventure
Cause we'll never be satisfied just staying at home

What posseses men to leave their women folk behind
Strike out on a journey just to see what they can find
When all they do is think about their ladies tender kiss
And all the many ways they'll make up for the
Lovings that they've missed

CHORUS (Repeat)

I knew I didn't like you from the moment that we met
Well maybe it was your shifty eyes or just the way you spit
But I know that you stole my knife 'cause you ain't nothing but a bum
So first I'm gonna whoop you good then shoot you with my gun

CHORUS (Repeat)

Now beaver line the river bank and gold is everywhere
It's all for the taking for any man who dares
So honey I'll be gone for just a year or two
But when I return a richer man I'll make it up to you
CHORUS (Repeat)
