Story Behind The Song
I've started writing a collection of songs in various genres about life through the eyes of a pilot or through those involved in aviation. This song was inspired by those calendar photographs which reminded me of one particular layover in Anchorage, AK as our hotel van drove past rows of bush type airplanes tied down to rest at the glow of a midnight sunset bathed the scene of airplanes, clouds, and city in red and orange.
Song Description
Part Honky tonk, part country, part 50's rock, part ragtime. When a red sunset is viewed from the passenger seat of an airliner headed for some exotic vacation destination it is a Kodak moment to be captured and treasured. Pilots also get that special feeling when viewing airplanes on the flight line during a sunset. The red glow reflecting off white paint or aluminum skin ooooh! Baby! My wanderlust just takes off just thinking about it.

Lyrics
VERSE 1
There's something about a red sunset reflecting on a plane
Fills me with that special thrill, one I can't explain
On a Lear jet headed west, or a Cessna I confess
There's something about a red sunset reflecting on a plane
CHORUS
Red Sunset
Inspire and propel
Red sunset
Colorize those white nacelles
Paint in jubilation, your evening celebration
There's something about a red sunset reflecting on a plane
VERSE 2
There's something about a red sunset when our plane is touching down
Let's Taxi in, set the brakes, grab the chocks, do the walk around
As the sun starts creeping lower, those colors just take over
There's something about a red sunset reflecting on a plane
BRIDGE
I don't want to miss one single minute. Freeze this moment with me in it.
(Chorus)
TAG OUT
There's something about a red sunset reflecting on a plane
