Story Behind The Song
A good friend and I were having our lunch at our usual spot beside a big beautiful lake. We had made it a regular routine to bring our guitars and sing songs to the passers-by during our lunch break. The biggest exception today is that the lake was calm, clear and flat as glass. There was a slight chill in the air and it was moist and sweet smelling.
As we were performing, we would see an occasional fish jump out of the lake trying to catch dragonflies and whatnot. Right there I got the inspiration for the song and put it down in writing that night. I didn't want to forget how happy and peaceful I felt as well as how determined I was to ensure no one, no matter what they might say, was going to disturb my peaceful relaxation underneath the big shady tree by the lake.
Song Description
A song about a peaceful, still and relaxing outing by a big, flat and beautiful lake where a guy has come to enjoy some down time while playing his guitar. As he is enjoying the quite solitude he can see fish jumping out of the glass-like surface of the clean, clear water. He thinks to himself: "Wow, this is relaxing." As the phone rings, he is determined to allow nothing to disrupt his peace. Picking up the phone he shakes his head while turning off the ringer and says: "Not today...not today."
