She however got greedy/ambitious and moved from one relationship to another seeking more than she currently had not realising time was passing by quickly. The song is set when she is now alone and just off another bad relationship. An old friend is advising her while consoling her saying that all is not lost and it is not too late to get back on track again and to end of day, 'Live her life the way she pleases'!
