Keep Me Warm (ft. Jerry Peterson)

Story Behind The Song

Written in the depths of winter. In fact I came up with the idea at a pre-Christmas party. All the parts were recorded in February but the song couldn't be mixed because the studio was closed due to the virus. The track features a fantastic brass arrangement by Jerry Peterson.

Lyrics

The weather's cold
Jack Frost is biting
The city streets are cold and grey
Just come close and keep me warm

The fire burns
The snow is falling
Blanket white on the ground
Just come close and keep me warm

Lock the door, throw away the key
A thousand points of light
Be my source of mystery
Be mine tonight

The days are short
The nights are long
A million mile away from summer
Just come close and keep me warm
Just come close and keep me warm

Don't say goodnight, no no
Just stay with me.

Sounds like a 70s music nice anyway

This has a welcoming vibe. nice

Not quite a holiday song, but more a winter song, the message of this tune is clear. It's cold out there...keep me warm. Succinct lyric writing, well-crafted song. Likeable hook, smooth sound. Love the sax. Female vocal coming in enriches the production. The writer uses familiar winter images but manages to make them sound fresh, not trite.

Hi

I love the music but I wanted a story line to follow your wonderful music. Take me some where with contrast between chorus and verse musically. You can do that with a lyrical hook or a melodic hook. Great start to a beautiful song. Keep writing.

Happy writing

Really cool sound and groove right out of the gate. Well recorded and mixed. The lead vocals have a really unique kind of feel with a bit of a lo-fi approach in the mix that really works for this song/genre. The backing vocals are fantastic and tastefully blended. All around, a very nice production!

Awesome intro! It really hooks you to the feel of the song. The piano really accentuates the flow song without becoming overpowering. The background vocals during the chorus sounds amazing, great male/female blend. Well done and well put together tune.

Nice smooth groove..... like the horn parts...adding a different feel.... smooth jazz... octave vocal harmony is nice with reg. harmonies....

gee, I know who this is.... my fave song of yours thus far - hits on all cylinders - great production, lovely groove, stellar lyrics and a wonderful hook. Chord progression is sweet, vocal melody right there working well and the harmony vocals are just right.

And of course - the horns are mmmm mmmm good (as are the sax fills!
