Story Behind The Song
In the book, The Wild Trees by Richard Preston, I was moved by descriptions of beauty of the redwood canopy and how it affected those scientists (iconoclastic young biologists) who discovered the tallest living things on earth.
Song Description
A scientist on a mission to be the first to discover the tallest living tree on earth, finds much more, including undiscovered biological habitats in the canopy, beauty beyond words and a spiritual awakening. Based on the true stories told in the book, The Wild Trees by Richard Preston.

Lyrics
I am on a mission,
A borderline obsession
I wanna know where in the world
is the tallest living thing.
Is it Northern California,
deep in the canyons?
I long to discover the tree of my dreams.
One by one I find them,
far from any highway
Centuries old and
Thirty stories tall.
Towering over
the floor of the forest.
I'm climbing in giants
and feeling so small.
I find myself in the redwoods
Like brothers we are one -
Born on terra firma,
Reaching for the sun.
An open air cathedral,
timeless and primeval
Lush like a Garden of Eden
on high.
Undiscovered riches of
flora and fauna,
A world of its own
next to the sky.
I find myself in the redwoods
Like brothers we are one -
Born on terra firma,
Reaching for the sun.
I pray for the strength
of my brothers.
May you thrive on the breath
I exhale.
I live on the air
you release to the heavens,
a union both sacred and frail.
I find myself in the redwoods
Like brothers we are one -
Born on terra firma,
Reaching for the sun.
