Story Behind The Song
Written for my brother, who has suffered with MS for many years in pain and disability, but still has a smile.
Song Description
My older brother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis around the age of 40, which is when he was first married and later had children. He was always strong in many ways, and physically one of the strongest I've known. He cares dearly for his children, but as the MS progressed, became unable to work, then unable to drive, and now is unable to physically move anything, except his hands slightly. He has to be cared for now, but is an inspiration to me and anyone who knows him, as he still smiles, jokes when I talk to him, and has a strong spirit that loves his children and so much more. In the summer of 2019 he developed an infection that got into his blood and lungs. We were told he wouldn't live. That is when I made writing this song a bigger priority. He thankfully lived, and still shares his spirit with all of us who know him. This song tries to resonate that spirit.

Lyrics
HERE I AM
VERSE 1
Stronger than most others I knew
His spirit gives many smiles
He can no longer walk
But pushes every mile
Multiple sclerosis took what we may take fore granted
This humble man don't talk big
So I sing for him
CHORUS part 1
Here I am
Still a man
Pushed to the limit but still I stand
Broken in more place than one
And though I may never run
Here I am
Still a man
Love my children and I'll tell them
CHORUS part 2
They may live a better life
Despite what others call strife
Pain grows love so true
Like mine for you
VERSE 2
All the things that made this strong man
Couldn't take his soft away
Now only dreams can make him feel like yesterday
A strong heart feeds his mind over a body in despair
He inspires us, so I sing
How he lives to care
CHORUS parts 1 & 2
BRIDGE
Time erodes everything
Even a strong rock
This man weathered more than most
But his strength teaches
Love has no clock And so I sing
CHORUS parts 1 & 2
