Story Behind The Song
Junior Murrell, was so kind as to take the original Percy Faith and his Orchestra cover, (from the album, Music from Hollywood), of Johnny Green and his Orchestra's soundtrack, from the movie theme, "Invitation", and add his great percussion, bass and horns, giving it a much more contemporary feel, adding to the lush production of 1952. Thank you J, for again, making it all happen. I appreciate you so very much my friend!
Song Description
This beautiful theme music, from the original Johnny Green and his Orchestra soundtrack of the 1952 movie, "Invitation", (covered here by Percy Faith and his Orchestra on the album, Music from Hollywood), starring Dorothy McGuire, Van Johnson, & Ruth Roman, has always been a favorite of mine, whilst listening to my father's LP's, growing up. The movie is a wonderful mid-century, B&W drama. The song has become a jazz staple, covered by many artists down through the years.

Lyrics
You and your smile
Hold a strange invitation
Somehow it seems
We've shared our dreams
But where?
Time after time
In a room full of strangers
Out of the blue
Suddenly you
Are there
Wherever I go
You're the glow
Of temptation
Glancing my way
In the gray of the dawn
And always your eyes
Smile that strange invitation
Then you are gone
Where oh where have you gone
How long must I stay
In a world of illusion
Be where you are
So near yet so far apart
Hoping you'll say
With a warm invitation
"Where have you been?
Darling come in
Into my heart"
