My aunt Coralyn, one of my all-time favorite people reach the age of 95. She told me she was terribly lonely, and missed her brothers and her friends. She told me she didn't want to live any more. She was realtively healthy, but she died a few months later.

Lyrics
There's an old dirt road that runs across the valley
take you anaywhere you want to go
It'll take you through the mud, and the dusty days of summer
It'll take you through the winter ice and snow
This old roads been going on forever
people go away and come back home
It's a good old traveling road, seen it's share of hard times
the only road that we have ever known
But she don't like that old dirt road no more
says she's had enough of ice and snow
Says she wants to go away and see her friends again
and leave me here all alone
She grew to be a woman in the valley
her family worked the land for all it's worth
she says they had some good times living on the farm
closest thing to heaven here on earth
chorus
Her family and her friends have all gone far away
says that she can't bear the heavy load
her time has come to go
she held my hand and kissed
then she walked alone on down that road
She won't walk that old dirt road no more
she won't have to deal with ice and snow
Now she's going to go away and see her friends again
and leave me here all alone
