Story Behind The Song
While reading an astronomy encyclopedia I came across an entry on the first map of the moon, drawn in 17th century. The concept of mapping a place no one would go for another several centuries just struck me, and this song came out of that.

Lyrics
"Map of the Moon"
Music and Lyrics by Capers Simmons (ASCAP)
VERSE I
All those new horizons we had never seen
Have all been photographed and published in a magazine
We have boldly gone where no one else had gone before
And stayed there long enough to learn it like our kitchen floor
CHORUS
When all that you thought was just so far away,
Starts to feel mundane
Like there's nothing left to do.
When those uncharted regions, where the dragons flocked,
Turn into parking lots,
Come help me draw the map of the moon,
The map of the moon.
VERSE II
Measure four dimensions of this crazy life.
Asking all the questions 'til we get them right
And I cannot imagine what we've left to find,
But then, I had not imagined what we've left behind
~ CHORUS ~
BRIDGE
Hey, honey, would you shine a light on?
So sunny, would you burn it brighter?
One day, you will.
Someday, you will.
I heard there's a place for people
Like us, would you come with me there?
We'll make it someday.
~ CHORUS ~
