Story Behind The Song
Here's a new story song promoting understanding, acceptance and inclusion of people with special needs. The idea was that it could apply to anyone, but of course my son Tommy inspired it. It's called "The Little Bus". It'll be available for download and whatever money is made will go to The Miracle Baseball League and or used to help send special needs kids to summer camp. Feedback welcomed. Thanks for the listen. It is now on itunes. Thanks!

Lyrics
The Little Bus by Mark "Buc" Williams 2012(ASCAP)
(V1)
When I was back in middle school
My buddies and me thought we were cool
We'd never had nothin' to do with no geeks
There was a boy our age in a wheel chair
Didn't know his name, didn't really care
We simply referred to him as the freak
(Pre-Chorus)
I got curious about him n' his special classes
Had a friend who's his neighbor so one day I asked him
(Chorus)
And he said...
His name is Tommy, he's not like us
Just sits n' stares like no-ones there
He don't do much
Can't walk or talk, and uses chalk
To tell you what he wants
That's the reason he rides on the little bus
(V2)
About a week later one afternoon
They wheeled that boy into our room
Miss Avery said he had some kind of syndrome
Said it was important that we understand
And the best way to learn was firsthand
One of us should spend a day with him at his home
(Pre-Chorus)
She looked at me as I made a funny face
Said Sunday I'd like you to go to his place
(Chorus)
I said but...
His name is Tommy, he's not like us
Just sits n' stares like no-ones there
He don't do much
Can't walk or talk, and uses chalk
To tell you what he wants
That's the reason he rides on the little bus
(V3)
I was scared when I first got to his house
But laughter soon removed all my doubts
Playin' video games, jokin' and watchin' TV
We listened to music, ate a few snacks
Laughed all day long then finally kicked back
I couldn't believe he was so much like me
(Pre-Chorus)
We had so much fun, I didn't wanna go
And the very next day I let the class know
(Chorus)
His name is Tommy, he's a lot like us
Likes watchin' football, eatin' hotdogs
And havin' fun
He can't run and play, but that's ok
He's likes watchin' everyone
Just needs a hand so he rides on the little bus
(Bridge)
The entire class was so surprized
We all learned something we never realized
(Chorus- with children)
His name is Tommy, he's a lot like us
Likes watchin' football, eatin' hotdogs
And havin' fun
He hopes and prays that someday
He'll be liked by everyone
Even though he rides on the little bus
(Tag)
From that day on, our fears were gone
And he was one of us
And we'd all cheer as he'd ride by on,
The little bus
