Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song to thank those people who volunteered the day of 9/11, and those who stayed during the cleanup. These brave people made a incalculable sacrifice to stay as they did, regardless of the risk and health concerns. These are the modern heroes

									The Brave
9/11 between 9 and 11 a terrible thing occurred
A harsh blow all over the world was heard
it's inconceivable; a man-made tragedy
In the home of the brave and the land of the free
Two towers stood proudly watching over the New York sky
Crashing planes, buildings in flames and now the landscape is awry
Too many people taken in too short a time
Friends, relatives grieve for they have been left behind
Aaliyah watches over the fallen and the missing
As they journey to the Will
Volunteers wait patiently on line
Immediate action was taken; rescue teams were sent in
To put out the fires, tend to the wounded, notify next of kin
When the first tower fell it took folks by surprise
Wait a minute; does this mean more lost lives?
Images of war and catastrophe fill the head
Survivors don't know why they were left alive
and their co-workers and friends are dead
We may never understand why some are taken
and others we are able to save
Like Lazarus some still will rise as if from the grave
From the ashes they come white as ghosts
Through an impermeable cloud of desolation
Asking what they can do to lend a hand
These are the brave
We all know we have so much to be thankful for
We live in a land of milk and honey
The people show their colors in troubled times
We all know we have so much to be thankful for
We live in a land of milk and honey
Our generations show their loyalty and love
These are the brave
