Story Behind The Song
I wrote this on a particularly bad trip on the subway in the middle of a very hot, depressing summer.
Song Description
This song is about the anger and frustration of living in the city and having to deal with the life that comes out of that. But it's also about how we still keep going despite the odds against us because hope springs eternal!

Lyrics
Hope Springs Eternal
I?ve tried and tried so long, yes
I?ve blistered and I?ve burned.
I?ve worked so very hard
It?s gotta be my turn.
I pound the pavement, beat the streets
You'd think that I would learn.
But I just keep on going on
the wounds that I have earned.
CHORUS: Why does hope spring eternal.
That instinct to survive.
A fire rages in our hearts.
The flame keeps us alive.
Work has its? rewards,
slow and steady wins the race.
But the rhythm of the city
Runs at a faster pace.
My voice becomes a scream
Filled with anger and disgrace.
I beat my head against the wall
and blood runs down my face.
CHORUS:
Bridge
Things are changing too fast
now is yesterday
I stumble through my life
bruised and broken everyday
The rules just keep on changing
no, nothing stays the same
I?m tired of this endless race
I?m tired of the pain
CHORUS:
Outro: (spoken) It's Gotta be my turn....
