Story Behind The Song
D.R.'s son was crying all night long as a baby. He finally went to sleep. D.R. was getting ready for work and was shaving when he could hear his son start to cry again. He looked at himself in the mirror and thought "a man ain't supposed to cry". The song idea came. He started singing and shaving while his son continued to cry. Driving to work he came up with more ideas singing in the truck. By the time he got to work, A Man Ain't Supposed To Cry was complete. Inspired by his crying son and written in about an hour.
Song Description
Boy comes home from school crying and his dad sits him down and tells him a man aint supposed to cry. Boy grows up still believing that men don't cry until his woman is leaving him. He is confused.
