Story Behind The Song
I co-wrote "Maybe This Time" in April of 2012 for Songwriting for Film & TV (Berklee Online) with a girl in Switzerland and a guy in Brazil. (Three continents!) Alex did the recording, mixing, and mastering--and his friends did the vocal and guitars. I wrote and sequenced the orchestra parts. Lauren recorded the piano, but Alex couldn't get it to sync with the rest of the tracks, so he had to play his own version. This is an AI cover of that demo.
This song is available in Spanish as "Ojalá Esta Vez." Lauren did the translation.
Song Description
Male vocal pop-rock song with a classical touch, this is a hopeful song about new love. Piano and strings introduce a lush motif, joined by crisp pop-rock drums and driving guitars that set an energetic pace. Layered above, a string quartet adds classical depth, weaving countermelodies throughout verses and swelling in the chorus. Rich male vocals soar over the mix.

Lyrics
Verse 1:
Sometimes I thought I'd never escape
The empty, lonely life I knew
But my world is changing shape
Since I found your warm embrace
Verse 2:
You smile at the things that I say
And now it's clear that I've been blessed
You brighten ev'ry day
And take my breath away
Chorus:
Maybe this time hope will survive
Maybe this time I'll own the sky
Maybe this time fate will be kind
Maybe love will last this time
(Instrumental interlude)
Verse 3:
I need you like stars need the night
You make me want to be my best
With you here by my side
I finally feel alive
Chorus:
Maybe this time hope will survive
Maybe this time I'll own the sky
Maybe this time fate will be kind
Maybe love will last this time
Bridge:
You make me feel I can have it all
Oh, oh, oh
Chorus:
Maybe this time hope will survive
Maybe this time I'll own the sky
Maybe this time fate will be kind
Maybe love will last this time
Oh, oh, oh
