Inside Out
I woke up late the other day
Surveyed my kingdom - I found it was in disarray
Pulled on a T-shirt from the floor
A simple act that soon might signify something more
Flipped on the light, looked in the mirror
Something was wrong and it was here that it became quite clear
I'd put my shirt on inside out
But the message printed on it still managed to pop right out
In the mirror through the shirt, decoded words appeared to me
Like da Vinci's cryptic notes, the glass reversed them magically
Inside out and backwards still, the writing appeared clear to me
Inside out and backwards still reversed again accordingly
Perhaps there's method to my mess
Some subtle genius others shouldn't try to second-guess
Or am I plagued with lethargy?
The backwards writing was real clever back in Italy
In the mirror through the shirt - an optical epiphany
Like da Vinci's notebooks now Italian, not Greek to me
Inside out and backwards still the writing appeared clear to me
Inside out and backwards still reversed again accordingly [x2]
