Story Behind The Song
I just wrote this a couple of years ago trying to imagine how difficult it is to not only be deployed at Christmas but everyday, the danger where you are and the worry about family at home, but there is comfort in knowing you are loved and keep looking forward to peace in the world and back to a normal life.
Song Description
A soldier imagining he/she were home for Christmas and thankful his/her family are safe.His/Her greatest wish is for the war to end and everyone home again. But this is why they serve.

Lyrics
It's the Christmas season, and oh, how pleasin',
If I could be there with you.
I see all you're faces, and all the places,
And things I know we would do.
(Bridge)
Put logs on the fire and lights on the tree,
A place at the table is set there for me,
And later, "It's a Wonderful Life", on T.V...... (hold)
Holding each other so tight,
"If I could be there tonight".
It's the Christmas season, but for some reason,
Tonight, I don't feel alone,
Maybe it's just knowin', somewhere it's snowin',
And you are all safe at home.
(Chorus)
There's nothing more I could wish for
Than just to be there with you,
And knowing you're safe and far from this place,
Is why I do what I do....... (hold)
It's the Christmas season, and oh, how pleasin',
If I could be there with you,
So don't stop prayin', soon I'll be sayin',
My Christmas wish has come true.
The fighting over; the end in sight,
There's Peace on earth and everything's right..... (hold)
(Tag)
It's the Christmas season, and oh, how pleasin',
"If I could be there tonight".
