Questioning contemporary marriage because there are so many more divorces today than there use to be in the past. Ending a marriage by signing divorce papers "on the dotted line" and reinstating that the other person will get half of assets signifies how many people only care about materialistic rewards that come from divorces. The song is about how love in general can become very petty at the end of the relationship.
