Story Behind The Song

My bandmate/soulmate Paz and I headed out to the Rainbow Gathering... after 7 years of marraige... and came back pregnant with our son. This was such a gift that we went back a few years later and thanked all who were responsible. The music business had hardened me in someways... and the Rainbow Gathering opened me up and then parenthood... did the rest. Our son is now a Teen and we are planning to take him back again to see where he came from.

Song Description

Have you ever been to the Rainbow Gathering? This song is about going to my first one and how it changed my life to go there. I was way too young for Woodstock... yet I always felt like a 60's flow child... and the Rainbow Gathering is the most amazing Woodstock like gathering. It is held in a National Forest every year where everyone volunteers to live together in peace and make a celebration for peace on July 4th... The Holy Rainbow INTERDEPENDENCE DAY! Over 50,000 people come to share this co-creative vision quest that everyone that goes shares... all to have a good time... and pray for peace... in your own special way and share it with over 50,000 of your new friends. It is amazing and brought back my faith in humanity. Every walk of life is there from the Jews for Jesus to A.A. to families at Kid Village. They put together a clean water system for drinking water and set up places for people to shower and go to the bathroom. There is a First Aid camp and a big kitchen at the main circle to make sure that no one is hungry. There are places for musician to play, storytellers and spoken word poets to speak and many to meet from all over. It is a camping experience unlike any other... like walking into a global village. And what's cool is that after the celebrations is put back as much as possible to the way it was before - with all the trash hauled away and all.
