Story Behind The Song
After seeing the shocking photos of prisoner torture in Abu Graib, and seeing video clips of how US soldiers break into innocent Iraqi homes, grab any men they find there put a bag over their heads and drag them off to prison to be subjected to sleep deprivation, constant lights on, and also possibly torture and death, I wrote this song as a way of trying to imagine what they must feel. I wanted this to be something anyone in any prison could relate to, and even anyone who feels stuck in a situation the feel unable to change.

Lyrics
These prison walls all around me
Are blocking out the sun
I don?t belong inside of here
I never tried to hurt anyone
Do you know what it?s like to be me?
Can you guess what I find myself dreaming of
Do you know what it?s like to be locked away
From everything you?ve ever loved
These endless days the lights are on
I?m so afraid my mind will be gone
When I get out ? ?cause if I do
I hope I still can find a way to talk to you
Do you know what it?s like to be me?
Can you guess what I find myself dreaming of
Do you know what it?s like to be locked away
From everything you?ve ever loved
Don?t tell me it?s the cost of war
Don?t tell me what you do it for
?Cause I?ve heard every word of it before
And I don?t want to hear it
I don?t want to hear it
I don?t want to hear it anymore...
Do you know what it?s like to be me?
Can you guess what I find myself dreaming of
Do you know what it?s like to be locked away
From everything you?ve ever loved
These prison walls all around me
Are blocking out the sun.
