Story Behind The Song
Years ago I was in church singing with the congregation. For a moment I closed my eyes and I no longer heard any singing or was in the church. All I could see were millions of people all dressed in white and circling someone, also dressed in white, sitting on a throne above everyone. I saw no land or water, just blue sky. All eyes were focused on this individual and everyone had their arms stretched out as they chanted in unison "I am home". I then opened my eyes and I was back in the church. The image was so vivid and as soon as I left the church I wrote down what I had seen.

Lyrics
I Am Home
Beyond the straining of my eyes
The people stood
Staring at Your wonder
And it was good, very good
And every arm reached out to you
And You reassured
Their voices claimed the air
As they spoke their words
I am home
I am home
I am home
I am home
Not just for this moment
More than just a day
Not just for this moment
It's forever
For all eternity
I am home
Only love could own this place
And the victory
For the children of the Father
They had been set free
And every face looked up to you
You reassured
Silence filled the air
As Your word was heard
You are home
Not just for this moment
More than just a day
Not just for this moment
It's forever
For all eternity
You are home
Not just for this moment
More than just a day
Not just for this moment
It's forever
For all eternity
I am home
