Story Behind The Song
Though I choose to demo this with a male singer instead of performing it myself, this is one of my most personal songs. It is about fighting to overcome the all-engulfing waves of grief that hit you following the death of a loved one. I was inspired to write it following the sudden and devastating loss of my brother to suicide in 2014.

Lyrics
"TIDAL WAVE"
The hardest thing I ever had to do
Is walk inside that cold and empty room
Saw you from a distance
lifeless, listless
I felt my heart drop
knowing hope is lost...
(Chorus)
Tidal wave, go away
Don't drag me in to your grief spin
Tidal wave, your undertow
It pulls me down
But I refuse to drown
Tidal wave, stay away.
I'll never wrap my head around this loss
I only hope to get it in a box
Tried to piece together
A broken spirit
What more could I do?
Love could not rescue you...
(Chorus)
Tidal wave, go away
Don't drag me in to your grief spin
Tidal wave, your undertow
It pulls me down
But I refuse to drown
Tidal wave, stay away
(Bridge)
I know you're OK
The place you are is safe
Remember me, though you are free
I'll meet you in eternity
(End Chorus)
Tidal wave, go away
Don't drag me in to your grief spin
Tidal wave, stay away
Replacing you for a better way
I need to live, I need to laugh, I need to hope
I need to heal, touch what is real, I need to cope
So I say no, to you, tidal wave
I say no, to you, tidal wave
