Lyrics
"Can't Find the Farm"
By Yves Stilmant © 2025
Verse 1A
Jim left Joe Bob's saloon around two-oh-two,
Had one eye open and one lost boot.
Whistled for his horse, ol' Dusty came a-stumblin',
With a beer on his breath and his saddle buckled funny.
Verse 1B
Jim said, "Take me home, I'm done with the night,"
But Dusty zig-zagged toward a neon light.
Stopped at Slim's Bar, walked in like a pro,
Knocked over two stools and licked the banjo.
Chorus
Can't find the farm, can't see the gate,
Both a little tipsy, both ridin' late.
Wanderin' 'round like tumbleweed fools,
Lost in a maze of honky-tonk rules.
A man and his horse, both outta charm,
Too drunk to love, too dumb to alarm --
Just tryin' to get back... can't find the farm.
Verse 2A
Made it past Daisy's, stopped at Big Hank's,
Horse had tequila, Jim drank from the tank.
They sang with a jukebox and danced in the lot,
Till Lucy Mae's Diner was the last thing they got.
Verse 2B
They walked in slow, knockin' salt shakers down,
Lucy said, "Boys, y'all best sit down."
Jim laid his head on the pie display case,
Dusty curled up with a smile on his face.
Chorus
Can't find the farm, can't see the stars,
Parked our dreams outside too many bars.
We're legends in boots with zero direction,
Horse got the blues and indigestion.
We ain't got cash, but we got charm,
Lucy gave us biscuits, didn't sound the alarm --
We're stayin' right here... forget the farm.
Bridge
Lucy smiled and said, "Y'all best behave,"
"Next time just stop here and skip the wave."
Final Chorus
Can't find the farm, but found a friend,
And a pie so good it might just mend.
Dusty dreams of fields and hay,
Jim just dreams of Lucy Mae.
They made it home in a diner booth arm --
Two drunk cowboys... couldn't find the farm.
