Story Behind The Song
While attending the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Center in Atlanta in 2009, I was inspired with this song.
Song Description
Celebration of progress in our humanity (race relations, women's progress in governmental roles, campaign against bullying). Starting a business, new city, leaving a failed relationship, are examples of change.

Lyrics
Stanza one- Our story as pain, filled with darkness & shame, we often try to forget; but the past is a bridge, to a greater today, a bridge upon which to build. What has been is a frame, from which we should gain, a new way of doing things, today, we represent change.
Chorus- We represent change--, things are better, not the same. The journeys of our past, gives us strength that will last, today, we represent change.
Stanza two- Now where do you fit in the story today, are you lost in the past; no longer afraid of new places & things, or closed off, refusing to change. What has been is a frame, from which we should gain, a new way of trying things, today, we represent change.
