Story Behind The Song

One of my water aerobics classmate was absent from class; I asked about & was told she bruised her ankle. I said she was fine the day before. "She must have fallen being chased by an old man at the casino"!!! I said I was gonna write a country song about her!!! A few hours later it was created!!

Lyrics

Don't Steal an Old Man's Quarter ©2014

Stanza one- Big night at my casino, havin' a little fun,
I'm lost in time, no worries, play 'til here comes the sun.
Yes all was well 'til one o'clock, when he sat in my chair,
we exchanged words, pushed & shoved, went downhill from there.

Chorus- I stole an old man's quarter, not worth it in the end.
Scuffling with some old fisty man, might land you in the pen.
Just find another place to hang, & let down your hair,
you can bet your last dollar, don't steal an old man's quarter.

2nd stanza- The old man's on my favorite slot, he saw me sitting there,
he said you get up, then you lose, saying he didn't care.
He had his last quarter, sitting up on top;
he turned his head, his quarter's mine, now the old man's outta time.

Chorus- I stole an old man's quarter, not worth it in the end.
Scuffling with some old fisty man, might land you in the pen.
Just find another place to hang, & let down your hair,
you can bet your last dollar, don't steal an old man's quarter.

3rd stanza- I went to my job limbing, my friends were asking why;
hearing my casino story, no one had a dry eye.
They laughed at me the whole day long, my boss, she chimed in too,
if you see that old man, run away, that's the best thing you can do.

Chorus- I stole an old man's quarter, not worth it in the end.
Scuffling with some old fisty man, might land you in the pen.
Just find another place to hang, & let down your hair,
you can bet your last dollar, don't steal an old man's quarter.

Interlude-

Chorus- I stole an old man's quarter, not worth it in the end.
Scuffling with some old fisty man, might land you in the pen.
Just find another place to hang, & let down your hair,
you can bet your last dollar, don't steal an old man's quarter.

song didn't appeal to me. Lyrics need work and stronger hook.

Great instrumentation, creativity, originality and lyrics. Great job. Fun song!

its catchy has some nice picking, has some nice lines , reminds me of a Loretta Lynn tune " don't come home a drinkin'"

Great guitar licks...nice voice. Little jerky and pushed to fit timing.
